About Me
Maria Tsuruta is an artist of many talents. From a young age, Maria has been fully immersed in the world of music and artistic creation. She learned to play the piano at age 4 and quickly realized her passion grew beyond the comforts of her home in Japan.
Her artistic journey began when she chose to attend Interlochen Arts Academy, a world-renowned performing arts boarding school, as a singer-songwriter at age 13. During her time at Interlochen, Maria was introduced to the world of business in music and felt compelled to explore the realms of publishing, management, and intellectual property. Her newfound passion to advocate for songwriters and musicians became her career path and goal inspiring her to obtain her Bachelor's in Music Business at the University of Colorado Denver. After graduating Summa Cum Laude from UCD, Maria moved to Los Angeles to work at Avex USA as a publishing assistant. Her work at Avex inspired her to return to school to obtain her master's in communication management to grow her skills in media entertainment management.
She recently graduated from the University of Southern California with a Masters in Communication Mangement.
"I'd be lying if I said it has been an easy journey for me. But, I've been able to push through year after year, here in the United States for the last 11 years because I know what I want to do can help so many musicians out there. I believe people in music - the creators, deserve to be paid for their work and deserve to be recognized for the strength they give people. Music moves people, music heals people. That is the industry I want to be a part of."
